WHITEBOARD – 8 April 2011

Workload:

Sectional WOD #3

AMRAP in 5 minutes:
Clean and Jerk – 165#/110#

Coach’s notes: The clean must be a squat clean, and the jerk can be anyway overhead. Unless you are going to a game’s score I would recommend slowing down the jerk and focusing on good form. Possible subs or changes to the workout are:

Limited confidence with the Clean & Jerk
Perform 3 reps on the minute for 5 minutes at a relatively challenging weight.

Little to no confidence in the movement
Kettlebell swing ladder (swings to overhead extension) – start at 10 swings per minute & escalate 2 swings every minute (stop once you cannot complete the reps)

Advice from someone who did this yesterday:

Pace yourself. It’s better to take those 2 extra breaths to keep your core tight through the clean than to rush it and collapse in the hole.

  • John Donne – Meditation 17

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...
