Weekend CAP

Closing in on the last waking hours of another refreshing weekend. Spent it doing a little training, being with family, and trying to break my dog like a wild horse (Think Marley and Me).

Ultimately it was a great weekend, could have just added a motorcycle ride in there. But, don’t worry about that, I have my check list of stuff I need to do to get the old 1982 Suzuki up and running.

Don’t have much to say about training, but I do want to share a little thought I had tonight.

As I do most nights, I was giving my daughter a bath. It is that moment in the day that I look forward to, because it allows me to be in the moment with my daughter.

Many times we go day in and day out on our routine’s, and don’t allow ourselves to take a moment to appreciate what we have. This time during my day allows me that opportunity. Plus, I get to lie to my wife and tell her I am doing it to give her a relaxing moment (don’t tell her I lie to her, I need all the brownie points I can get).

Anyway, what I was thinking was how children (particular mine) are like a big giant mirror that shows any character flaw in yourself.

If you want to be lazy, don’t think about it…your child is watching.

If you want to simply give up, don’t think about it…your child is watching.

I swear any half-ass excuse I had before gets harder for me to choke down everyday, simply because I have a drooling little bugger around me.
Because of her I most certainly will be a better person- just for the simple fact that I will never want to disappoint her.

So, the point is, if you lack motivation- knock somebody up! That was a joke, seriously don’t do that.

On the topic of children and doing better because of them take a look at Jamie Olver’s Speach on TED.

  • John Donne – Meditation 17

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...
