Well, 2 more hours of shoveling and 3 additional hours today = my workouts for the last couple days.

Growing evidence that long, slow, and usually weighted work is necessary for a healthy lifestyle. Art De Vany has been saying that for a long time. Short high intensity work is great, but we have to make time for the occasional long medium to lower intensity work. It makes sense because people aren’t designed simply to be stationary and then do explosive type workouts. Where is the long slow work for us desk job people?

Anyway, snow was a great excuse to make some good grub. One of my biggest vices is ice cream, especially coffee ice cream. Took the opportunity to try and make some paleo coconut ice cream.

Ingredients:
4 Egg yolks
2 Cans Coconut Milk (I prefer Thai Kitchen Regular)
3 Scoops Protein Powder (Vanilla)
1 & 1/2 cup brewed coffee
1/2 cup coarsely ground coffee grinds

So I mixed in all the ingredients on the stove top and stirred it on low heat. DON’T boil. Cook till the mixture coats a spoon and stays on it once out (Around 8-12 minutes). Chill the mixture.

I wanted to pull out the mixture from the freezer every 30 minutes or so and give it a spin. I was meant to do this for at least the first 2 hours. I kind off forgot and got occupied with shoveling. So, the mixture ended up getting 2 whole spins.

Tried it tonight… lets just say I have to go back to the drawling board. The coffee/coconut brick in my freezer is a testament to that.

Ingredients...they sure started out with a lot of promise

  • John Donne – Meditation 17

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...
