WHITEBOARD – 15 June 2012

Workload:

The Tunnel: Mobility WOD

Helen

3 Rounds of:
400m Run
21 Kettlebell Swings
12 Pull-ups

Notes: Make sure to check out the MobilityWOD video in regards to foot strike.  One of the most common issues I see with running mechanics is the tendency to turn one foot out as you begin to pull the heel up.  Watch the entire video to see some mobility work to try and correct this.  Don’t know what your running mechanics look like?  Have someone video you from the front, side, and behind during the run.  Post it up if you want comments or feedback.  Running should be one of the most efficient movements for people, but with all the bad postural junk we do in a given day, people can’t seem to run in a straight line with proper posture/positioning anymore.

Also, if one foot is turning out, and the other is striking evenly this is mucho no bueno.  Inbalance to one side = sheering of the spine.  So, to summarize look at your movements, identify problems, and FIX your crap people!

Do you see the problem with their strikes?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...
